Fish are an excellent source of a variety of vitamins and minerals including Omega 3. However if we want to ensure there are enough fish to eat in the future, we need to start thinking about the choices we make when choosing the fish we eat.
Overfishing is considered to be the biggest threat to marine wildlife and habitats, with many fish stocks around the world depleted. Added to this is the fact that our consumption of fish has increased in the UK and across Europe.

Award Winning Fish and Chip Shop Removes Cod Roe, a Favourite Item, from its Menu

According to the MCS 'Fish stocks globally are under threat, why go out to specifically target spawning fish. The fish eggs are the ocean’s future, let them hatch. Spawning fish tend to congregate very close, so surely the fisherman has an unfair advantage if he goes hunting for roe bearing fish.' As a result the Harbour Lights will no longer be selling Cod Roe as part of it Fish and Chip menu in its restaurantand take-away shops.
